Preparing for success
If you rush toward your cat during a sighting or attempt to grab them without a plan, you risk scaring them off and restarting your search from scratch. A panicked cat may bolt and become even harder to locate the next time.
📌 Important: There’s a dedicated section in this course that covers what to do when your cat is found. Be sure to review that before actively searching or attempting a recovery.
🔹Why a Slow Approach Matters
Cats are incredibly smart and observant. If you try to catch them too quickly and fail, they may learn to avoid you or that spot in the future. That makes recovery much more difficult.
Take your time, stay calm, and have a clear game plan in place—including whether you’ll need a humane trap, food, or extra help.
